The storm is out there, and every one of us must eventually face it. When the storm comes, pray that it will shake you to your roots and break you wide open. Being broken open by the storm is your only hope. When you are broken open, you have a chance to discover for the first time what is truly inside you. Some people never get to see what is inside them; what beauty, what strength, what truth and love. They were never broken open by the storm. So, don't run from your pain — run into your pain. Let life's storm shatter you.
The beauty of being shattered is how the shards become our character and our marks of distinction. This is how we are refined by our pain. When the storm rips you to pieces, you get to decide how to put yourself back together again. The storm gives us the gift of our defining choices. You will be a different person after the storm, because the storm will heal you from your perfection. People who stay perfect and unblemished never really get to live fully or deeply. You will not be the same after the storms of life; you will be stronger, wiser and more alive than ever before!
"Clouds come floating into my life, no longer to carry rain or usher storm, but to add color to my sunset sky."
— Rabindranath Tagore
You see, it is our pain that connects us to all of the most beautiful parts of life. Love is such a marvelous pain. Birth, death, and suffering show us the essence of life and teach us so perfectly what is most important and precious. We are all made complete by our pain. When the storm of life comes howling and raging outside your window; when you look that tempest in the eye, there will be a quickening in your instincts. In that moment, you will burn with aliveness. Your total intelligence knows exactly what to do, because you were made to weather the storms of life. You will survive, and both you and the world will be transformed.
"Pause and remember— You will make it to the other side of this hardship. One day you will look back with wiser eyes, understanding and gratitude. Hang in there!"
— Jenni Young

My storm was my hospital stay for pancreatitis. It was a very emotional experience . The rest of my life has changed. This is the rest of my life. My Faith was failing fast. I went to sleep thinking I would never see my family again. Well here I am. Life is more beautiful. Anger, judgement , regrets are a waste of time. Love.... Fills my heart in an abundance. I laugh more. Let hurts to the wind. Hug more. Life is good!!!!

After so many storms I was able to learn strategies to go through them, without letting them consume me. I guess a lot of my storms were part of my past. However I love my life and I am seeing that my storms have shaped my character and the person I am today. Having true empathy has been my reward and a deeper understanding of myself.

It's a little different when someone has had to endure a lot of those storms so early on, and for so many years of their life, sometimes it is okay to hide or run away for a little while, because at the end of the day, the rest of it still applies, we can still choose how we put ourselves back together

Repost G-Auntie so true ive been in the strom for awhile and I got so tried of the strom tried to get out over and over, and I didnt understood why, it like I was calling and calling. but God knew that I wasn't ready to come out the storm, so I started to pray harder every chance I got and reading his word more bit by bit day by day. And then I was coming little by little. And now that I have been patient and ready to step out my comfort zone and try something New that I never thought i'd be doing. Now look where im at living and loving life he broke me open so that I could see what kinda of person im and to be that person the he created me to. So Thank Lord for never letting go of my hand Thank guiding me through the storms

"I live in Austin, Texas with my wife Jenni, and I have three amazing daughters. I am a simple person, who as a boy, ran around barefoot on a dirt-road in Alabama — dreaming of being a writer. I am probably best known as a writer of pithy sayings and small, simple aphorisms which have found their way into tens-of-thousands of publications, including by some of the biggest publishers in the world. I love to inspire people and show them their inner-beauty. I see the world spiritually. My mission is to cause people to consider kinder ways in which we could do business, structure our relationships and treat the world." Bio
