Simple Reminders

I am probably best known for writing little quips and epigrams that have been picked-up over the years and published in thousands of other books, newspapers, magazines, blogs and articles around the world. I began publishing my writings in the 80's on bulletin boards and a small poetry and epigrams newsletter/collection in Hawaii, and then the internet in the early 90's. Over the years my writings began to show-up in other people's work more and more. I once published a lot of essays and poetry on the internet and then, on myspace.com. After a front-page cover story about me in the Wall Street Journal featuring my Myspace page, my little writings seemed to explode on the scene appearing everywhere. A lot of the original source essays that many of my now published quips first appeared in are no longer public, because I am no longer happy with the quality of those materials, but I did save the more popular quotes from those essays. My writings continue to show up in new places every day, and even if I am known as a writer of small quips and thoughts, I am very happy people seem to be interested in some of my ideas.

Citing: Interestingly, sometimes other than my blog or myspace, someone else's book, mag or newspaper becomes the original (first published in) source to cite. This is especially true if I publish an essay, and people quote it and then I decide I no longer like my essay and I take it down, but salvage the best lines. I seem to do this a lot. To make matters more complicated I also sometimes re-use my favorite lines in multiple subsequent published works, and take my favorite lines from my non-related writings and add them to this master collection. Most of my essay and book ideas start as a one-liner idea in my Simple Reminders collection, and I expand it from there when I am inspired. So, if you cannot find a source essay, poem or book for one of my quips, you can resort to citing my catchall, ever-growing collection: Simple Reminders, 1st-8th Edition/Rev, Feb 1987/2013, ISBN 978-1481953702
