# The Four-Layer Commercial Engine

## Commerce in Service of Formation
The commercial system has four layers: curation, education, creation, and institutional formation. Each layer must remain subordinate to the standard. Commerce succeeds when it gives people access to useful objects, trustworthy instruction, missing products, and formation their institutions can apply; it fails when affiliate volume, novelty, scarcity, or credential theater begins determining the doctrine.
- **Curation:** edited collections, grade-based recommendations, sourcing directories, and field guides explaining why an item belongs.
- **Education:** manuals, standards, briefings, values cards, courses, workshops, and the complete American Comportment curriculum.
- **Creation:** original products only where the existing market fails the standard, including garments, leather, paper, carry, travel, office, and household objects.
- **Institutional formation:** new-hire kits, onboarding briefings, meeting and presentation training, executive bearing, conference standards, and licensable internal formation systems.
## Commercial Discipline
Every product and program must state the problem solved, person served, evidence used, price logic, maintenance burden, and relationship to the doctrine. Affiliate availability may influence distribution; it may not determine what is recommended. Original products should appear only after sustained curation identifies a real absence. Institutional programs must improve capability rather than sell prestige certification.
The strongest commercial engine does not conceal commerce. It makes the exchange honorable by ensuring that the customer receives greater form, readiness, trust, restraint, or civic dignity than the customer possessed before purchase.
