Manners provide the moral disposition, etiquette supplies learnable rules, comportment integrates those rules into the person, and protocol extends the grammar into institutional and ceremonial life. American Comportment is not borrowed court behavior. It is the American refinement formed among citizens moving through enterprise, government, laboratories, infrastructure, travel, public service, and pluralistic rooms. Its purpose is neither status nor submission.
