# Acropolis of Athens
The Acropolis of Athens is the elevated monumental precinct above the ancient city. Its surviving classical ensemble includes the Parthenon, Propylaea, Erechtheion, and Temple of Athena Nike. The Pnyx, where citizens assembled and Rubio later spoke, is a separate site.
The precinct records both destruction and rebuilding. In McGill's neo-Westernism, its survival prompts a further question: which institutions will explain its meaning to future readers? That is an interpretive argument, distinct from Greece's present stewardship of the site.
