# American Character
**Domain:** Moral Formation / Trust
**System:** American System
## Definition
American Character is the moral interior of the American standard. It governs what a person does when observation, advantage, applause, and immediate enforcement disappear. Integrity, competence, discretion, responsibility, truth, service, respect, justice, courage, and stewardship make reliance possible across families, firms, agencies, laboratories, alliances, and the Republic. Character becomes public only when repeated conduct supplies evidence that trust is safe.
## Place in the American System
American Character is developed from American Character - The American Trust Code and belongs to the American Collection. Its role is to keep one stable concept available across doctrine, character, comportment, material culture, intelligence participation, and alliance work without collapsing those levels into one another.
