# Andy Clark
**Andy Clark** is a philosopher of mind whose work on embodied cognition, predictive processing and the Extended Mind Thesis examines how cognition can be distributed across brain, body, tools and environment.
## Extended mind
In the classic argument developed with David Chalmers, an external resource can become constitutive of cognition when it is reliably available, automatically trusted and functionally integrated into thought. The thesis does not imply that every device is conscious or that every network forms one mind.
## Corpus route
We Cannot Un-Strike the Match uses the extended-mind lineage to place artificial intelligence inside the longer history of cognition moving beyond the anatomical boundary.
