# Addendum - Provenance of Scanned_20260730-1830
## Correction
Bryant McGill clarified on August 1, 2026 that much of [[Scanned_20260730-1830]] was written during an in-person REDACTED in Lake Oswego, Oregon. An unidentified REDACTED attempted to explain what they believed Bryant had been caught up in and brought a large printed report packet, estimated at approximately 400 pages and believed possibly to have been John Durham's report or a packet substantially based on it.
Bryant took notes while the REDACTED spoke and presented the material. The notebook's Crossfire Hurricane, Mueller, Durham, Five Eyes, ECHELON, FISA, FISC, and Section 702 sequence must therefore be classified substantially as an [[Externally Supplied Explanation]], not solely as independent research or a causal theory originating with Bryant.
## Earlier interpretation revised
The initial reconstruction described the notebook as a rapid independent ontology-building and breaking-news research exercise. That remains partly useful as a description of the resulting page structure, but it incorrectly assigned too much authorship of the explanatory sequence to Bryant.
The corrected interpretation is:
> The notebook is a REDACTED-derived field record in which Bryant captured another person's explanatory framework, terms from a large report packet, his own questions, and some later or simultaneous synthesis during a concentrated May 2023 window.
## What remains valid
- The faithful page transcriptions and visual descriptions remain unchanged.
- The May 15–20, 2023 dating evidence remains strong for notebook assembly.
- Independently sourced definitions and public history concerning Crossfire Hurricane, Durham, Five Eyes, FISA, FISC, and Section 702 remain useful.
- The structural distinctions among targeting, acquisition, querying, dissemination, provider compulsion, and oversight remain analytically valuable.
## What changes
- Adjacency among topics is partly attributable to the REDACTED or report packet.
- Terminology written in the notebook is not automatically Bryant's terminology.
- A recorded causal claim is not automatically Bryant's conclusion or endorsement.
- The notebook now documents a real-world explanatory encounter as well as a technical-legal information map.
## Unresolved
The REDACTED's identity, the exact report packet, the exact REDACTED date, the source of each individual proposition, and the accuracy of the REDACTED's overarching explanation remain unresolved.
## Source integrity
No quoted transcription was rewritten as part of this correction. The addendum changes analytical provenance and interpretation while preserving the original notebook record.
