# Agency-Preserving Systems
## Definition
Agency-preserving systems keep the relevant human, documentary, technical, or biological channel open long enough for informed action. They resist premature closure, destructive simplification, and the replacement of a source by somebody else's incomplete model of it.
## Notebook evidence
[[Scanned_20260730-1825]] approaches this principle at several scales: [[HarmonyOS]] and [[Digital Sovereignty]] concern who defines a device environment; [[Oracle Autonomous Database]] concerns how automation reallocates operational authority; [[Drosophila melanogaster]] research concerns disciplined translation between a model and a living system; and PDF pages 20–22 treat interruption as closing a human channel before its information arrives.
## Significance
The notebook's apparently separate subjects become coherent when read as questions about agency: who sets the environment, who may alter it, whose narrative enters the record, and what safeguards prevent a conclusion from being reached too early.
## Evidentiary boundary
This is a retrospective synthesis of the notebook's structure, not a phrase transcribed from the pages.
