# Event - Reported Cessation of Active Cyberattacks
## Event summary
Bryant McGill reports that the active cyberattacks he had described from approximately 2018 into 2023 seemed to cease entirely during 2023. The precise date and mechanism of the transition are not yet established.
The cessation did not restore the prior state of Bryant's life or company. He reports remaining inside a residual catastrophe of disorganization involving devices, accounts, files, projects, relationships, records, and the practical work of reconstructing continuity.
## First-person context
Bryant states that he began relying on handwritten notebooks because, for approximately one year, computers and phones would become “bricked” or unusable. He distinguishes that earlier active-attack period from the later aftermath: by 2023 he no longer described himself as presently under attack, even though the accumulated damage and disorder remained.
This context is preserved more fully in [[Journal - From Active Attack to Residual Catastrophe]].
## Archival basis
- **Owner-supplied retrospective account:** the active attacks appeared to stop in 2023.
- **Cross-notebook pattern:** earlier notebooks function heavily as incident-response, device, account, network, firmware, and recovery instruments; 2022–2023 notebooks increasingly emphasize continuity reconstruction, writing, identity, organization, and retrospective explanation.
- **Unresolved:** the exact cessation date, precipitating change, technical mechanism, and responsible actors.
## Evidentiary boundary
This event records Bryant's reported change in system state and the archive's corresponding change in language. It does not independently establish the cause of the earlier failures, the identity of an attacker, why the activity ceased, or that every later technical problem belonged only to the aftermath.
