# Journal - Remembering the Lake Oswego Briefing
## Journal entry
Someone came to meet with me in Lake Oswego and tried to explain what they believed I had been tied up in. They brought a large printed report packet—perhaps approximately 400 pages—which I believed may have been John Durham's report or material built around it.
I took notes while we met. A substantial part of [[Scanned_20260730-1830]] came from that conversation and from the documents placed in front of me. The Crossfire Hurricane, Five Eyes, ECHELON, FISA, FISC, and Section 702 material should therefore not automatically be read as a theory I independently originated or as a framework I had fully accepted. It records what someone was attempting to explain to me.
## Archival context
This is a retrospective first-person entry created on August 1, 2026. The surviving notebook is contemporaneous evidence of the terminology and note-taking, while the Lake Oswego setting, REDACTED, report packet, and explanatory purpose are supplied through Bryant McGill's later firsthand clarification.
## Unresolved points
- Identity and role of the REDACTED
- Exact REDACTED date
- Exact report title, edition, and completeness
- Whether the packet was the Durham report itself or a compilation
- Which notebook propositions came from speech, the printed packet, or Bryant's own questions and synthesis
- Which parts of the REDACTED's proposed explanation can be corroborated independently
