# Erechtheion The Erechtheion is a fifth-century BCE temple complex on the [[wiki/Acropolis of Athens|Acropolis of Athens]], associated with several older sacred traditions. Its distinctive form shows that the Acropolis was not a single building or a single story; the later monumental program incorporated inherited sacred places alongside new construction. ## Source - [Acropolis, Athens](https://whc.unesco.org/en/list/404), UNESCO World Heritage Centre.
