# Presence and Bearing
**Domain:** American Comportment Domain
**System:** [[wiki/American Comportment|American Comportment]]
## Definition
Presence and Bearing is the discipline through which the body reassures the room before the mouth opens. Posture, gait, gaze, stillness, voice, entrance, exit, and emotional regulation communicate whether attention and responsibility are present. American bearing avoids both servility and theatrical dominance. The formed citizen occupies space calmly because the purpose of the room outranks the performance of arrival.
