## Definition
**`1233014400` is the Unix timestamp in seconds for January 27, 2009 at 00:00:00 UTC.** In milliseconds it is `1233014400000`, whose contiguous decimal representation contains `3301` in digits three through six.
The conversion is mathematical. It does not establish that the date was selected by a Cicada operator, that the occurrence was intentionally encoded, or that any named institution shares authorship, sponsorship, lineage, or command relationship with Cicada 3301.
## Positional significance
The farther `3301` is pushed toward the left side of a Unix timestamp, the lower its turnover becomes, because those decimal positions encode progressively larger units of elapsed time. A right-edge match can be manufactured by seconds or milliseconds; a left-side match is coupled to the slower-moving calendar-scale structure of the timestamp. The search instruction is recorded as having asked for `3301` near the front or middle for that reason: the objective was not merely to find the digits, but to force them into the portion of Unix time most strongly determined by the date itself.
In `1233014400`, the decomposition is **`12 | 3301 | 4400`**, with `3301` occupying digits three through six. The digits are not buried in sub-second noise; they sit in the high-order portion of the timestamp, where the calendar is doing most of the work. At the fixed boundary of 00:00:00 UTC, no sub-day tuning is available.
## Fixed-rule result
The governing search rule is: represent each calendar date at midnight UTC in Unix milliseconds and test for the string `3301`. Across January 1, 2000 through December 31, 2029, 10,958 dates produce three hits: January 27, 2009; February 25, 2012; and December 1, 2024. Three is the median yield for an arbitrary four-digit target under this rule, so the raw hit count is not statistically rare by itself.
Applying a seventeen-year [[wiki/Magicicada|Magicicada]] recurrence leaves January 27, 2009 as the only hit whose recurrence had arrived by 2026. The thirteen-year branch remains an open degree of freedom and must be assessed through [[wiki/Search-Instruction Record|search-instruction provenance]], not selected after the result.
## Conditional relevance
The raw-frequency calculation does not answer the conditional question. **Before the coordinate was known, the search had already specified `3301`, asked that it appear toward the front or middle of a Unix timestamp, clarified that the objective was to recover a date rather than manipulate a contemporary timestamp, proposed a seventeen-year cicada interval and explicitly required that interval to be independently verified, and named a thematic region involving the United States, Israel, the culture war, and the Heritage Foundation. The fixed 00:00:00 UTC boundary was then introduced as the normalization rule that converted that request into a reproducible date search before January 27 was returned.** The seventeen-year filter selected January 27, 2009 from the three candidates; January 27 independently falls on the UN-designated International Day of Commemoration in memory of the victims of the Holocaust, a thematic match to the pre-existing research corpus.
January 27 itself was not pre-specified, so this is not an honest one-in-365 result and no retrospective p-value should be attached to it. Its proper status is a **conditionally relevant thematic convergence whose exact statistical weight has not yet been quantified**.
## Quantification boundary
A rigorous estimate would require a corpus-conditioned enrichment test: freeze the corpus as it existed before discovery, pre-register a calendar-date salience list or scoring function, score all three candidates and appropriate comparison dates, include competing observances, and report sensitivity to category and scoring choices. Until that test exists, no exact probability or likelihood ratio should be claimed.
## Epistemic label
**Documented mathematical coordinate / documented chronological convergence / conditionally relevant thematic convergence / exact statistical weight unquantified / intended significance unresolved.**
This label does not weaken the discovery. It identifies the positive evidentiary sequence without converting it into a probability claim: **a constrained thematic and numerical neighborhood was specified before the answer existed; a reproducible normalization procedure generated a candidate set; the pre-specified seventeen-year branch selected January 27 from that set; and only then did the selected date independently resolve to Holocaust Remembrance Day inside a corpus already substantially concerned with Israel, Holocaust memory, U.S.–Israel relations, gamification, and the January 2009 Cicada/Bitcoin chronology.**
