# Agent Interoperability **Domain:** AI Agents / Standards / Coordination **Doc Type:** Concept Node **Maturity:** Developed ## Definition **Agent interoperability** is the capacity of artificial agents built by different systems to discover one another, exchange context, negotiate capabilities, delegate tasks and coordinate action through shared protocols and semantic objects. Model intelligence alone does not create a multi-agent ecology. Agents require identity, authorization, message semantics, state exchange, trust boundaries and procedures for failure. Interoperability supplies these connective conditions. ## Emergence Context When agents can compose services across institutions, system-level capabilities may appear that no designer implemented in one place.
