# Attackathon **Domain:** Defensive cybersecurity / Tournaments **Doc Type:** Developed Wiki Node **Maturity:** Developed **Collection:** [[collections/Gamification|Gamification Collection]] ## Definition An **attackathon** is a time-bounded competitive security audit in which eligible participants examine a scoped system, submit findings under published rules, and receive adjudicated rewards according to validity and severity. ## Significance It joins real productive labor to tournament grammar: arena, eligibility, task, deadline, referee, score, leaderboard, purse, review, and persistent credential.
