# Attribute-Based Access Control **Domain:** Austin Research / Concepts **Doc Type:** Corpus analysis **Source basis:** Supplied research cluster with linked references; see the evidence map for verification scope. **Attribute-Based Access Control (ABAC)** evaluates requests using attributes of the requesting entity, the resource, the action, and relevant context against policy. In the IC ITE sources, standardized identity and data attributes enable consistent decisions across agencies. The architecture separates discoverability from unrestricted retrieval: a resource may be identifiable while its content remains subject to additional conditions. Maintaining correct attributes and enforcing policy across services are therefore essential to interoperability. ABAC is part of the executable-policy layer of the Austin comparison. It explains how machine-addressable data can remain constrained by authorization rather than treating connectivity as permission. ## Connected entries Unified Identity Attribute Set · IC ITE · Machine-Executable Policy · Trusted Data Format · Compartmentation · Biometric Presentation Attack Detection ## Sources and corpus context - IC ITE - Intelligence Community Information Technology Enterprise - ODIN - Observe, Detect, Identify, Neutralize - The Austin Executable Loop — master document - [Intelligence Community Data Strategy 2017–2021](https://www.odni.gov/files/documents/CIO/Data-Strategy_2017-2021_Final.pdf) - [IC Technical Specification — Unified Identity Attribute Set](https://www.odni.gov/files/documents/CIO/ICEA/IC_Tech_Spec_Attributes_V2_Final_PUBLIC.pdf) **Cluster:** Austin Executable Loop · Austin Research Evidence Map
