## Definition
**BIDS-EEG** is the BIDS representation for EEG datasets. It organizes recording files with electrode, coordinate, event, channel, participant, task, and acquisition metadata so that recordings from different studies and tools can be interpreted consistently.
## Architectural role
BIDS-EEG makes longitudinal or pooled EEG data more reproducible, but comparable filenames alone do not eliminate differences in montage, reference, vigilance, medication, device behavior, preprocessing, or population.
