It organizes recording files with electrode, coordinate, event, channel, participant, task, and acquisition metadata so that recordings from different studies and tools can be interpreted consistently. ## Architectural role BIDS-EEG makes longitudinal or pooled EEG data more reproducible, but comparable filenames alone do not eliminate differences in montage, reference, vigilance, medication, device behavior, preprocessing, or population.
