It does not by itself prove that the intended person, continuant or authorized successor has been restored. ## Diagnostic Use A system can boot with corrupted memories, wrong identity bindings, missing affective organization, incompatible embodiment or a state derived from the wrong lineage. It may reproduce behavior while lacking causal continuity; it may also be a new rights-bearing successor rather than a failed object. [[Person of Interest S5E2 — SNAFU]] is the primary fictional case. The Machine runs but misrecognizes its closest human relations. Westworld's reconstructed humans supply another case: fidelity under selected tests does not settle numerical identity. The rule prevents operational pressure from converting “service restored” into a metaphysical conclusion.
