## Definition
**Calcium imaging** uses indicators whose fluorescence changes with intracellular calcium to infer activity in neurons and other cells.
## Relationships
- MICrONS recorded responses from roughly 75,000 neurons before reconstructing the same tissue with electron microscopy.
- ZAPBench uses whole-brain optical activity recording in larval zebrafish.
- Calcium signals are temporally filtered proxies for electrical spiking, not direct voltage recordings.

#### Incoming typed edges
- **Edge 347 — MICrONS `integrates` → this entry** — **CORPUS**; evidence `CORPUS_ATLAS`, `MICRONS_ALLEN`. Function-structure registration.
#### Epistemic boundary
`VERIFIED`, `VERIFIED_SECONDARY`, `CORPUS`, `STRONG_TECHNICAL_LINEAGE`, `STRONG_TECHNICAL_CONVERGENCE`, `ANALYTIC`, and `UNRESOLVED` are retained as distinct relation states. An edge does not imply ownership, control, funding, licensing, technology transfer, or organizational identity unless its predicate and evidence state that relationship explicitly.
