# Confidence
**Domain:** Psychology / Agency / Human Development
**Doc Type:** Concept Node
**Maturity:** Developed
## Definition
**Confidence is earned trust in one's capacity to meet uncertainty, act under pressure, learn from consequences, and recover when performance is imperfect.**
## Mechanism and Practice
Confidence grows from evidence rather than performance alone. Preparation, repeated exposure, self-command, supportive relationships, and recovery after failure teach the mind and body that difficulty can be entered without surrendering agency.
