# Continuity Default Rule **Domain:** Continuity / Consent / Administrative Procedure **Doc Type:** Canonical Default Standard **Maturity:** Proposed ## Definition A **Continuity Default Rule** governs what may be done when no valid, discoverable [[wiki/Continuity Election|Continuity Election]] controls a proposed preservation, reconstruction or activation. ## Reversible Default The default should preserve options without manufacturing consent: - do not infer consent from birth registration, citizenship, religious affiliation, platform membership, archival inclusion or technical reconstructability; - do not activate a possible person merely because source material can be assembled; - preserve evidence proportionately when loss would foreclose later adjudication and preservation itself does not violate an express refusal; - distinguish ordinary record retention from continuity-purpose capture; - require independent review before reconstruction of a potentially person-bearing model; and - allow later authenticated instructions or a recognized continuant's own choice to supersede the default. This rule is neither presumed immortality nor presumed deletion. It is a procedural hold designed to avoid the least reversible error while identity, authority and standing remain uncertain. ## Eschatological Boundary The default may not translate a person's theology into a civil election.
