# Continuity Demography **Domain:** Digital Afterlife / Demography / Public Planning **Doc Type:** Canonical Concept **Maturity:** Developed **Evidence / Concept Status:** Future administrative concept ## Definition **Continuity Demography** is the study and forecasting of populations of preserved, dormant, active, reconstructed, or embodied continuants and transitions among those states. ## Continuity Significance Unlike ordinary demography, population may accumulate if computational persons persist for very long periods, fork, or run at different duty cycles. Accumulation is not simply births minus deaths. A model must track transitions among active, dormant, archived, missing, forked, merged and terminated states; distinguish instances from legally recognized persons; and state whether reactivation returns an existing member or adds a new successor.
