# Continuity Opt-Out
**Domain:** Digital Afterlife / Consent / Rights
**Doc Type:** Canonical Concept
**Maturity:** Developed
**Evidence / Concept Status:** Canonical normative right
## Definition
A **Continuity Opt-Out** is the legally effective refusal of specified preservation, reconstruction, activation, or hosting practices.
## Continuity Significance
A system that permits continuation but not refusal is not a consent architecture.
## Existing Architecture / Evidence
Postmortem-data directives, deletion rights, digital-testament vetoes, and service refusals provide partial analogues.
## Evidentiary Boundary / Red-Team Note
Scope must be explicit: opt-out of reconstruction is not necessarily opt-out of archiving.
