# Continuity Registry **Domain:** Administrative Infrastructure / Identity / Continuity **Doc Type:** Canonical Institutional Concept **Maturity:** Proposed ## Definition A **continuity registry** is an authoritative, contestable record of continuity-bearing entities, their identity claims, status, custody, recognized state lineage, governing instruments and succession arrangements. ## Scope The registry should record without conflating: - the represented biological or historical person; - source records and their provenance; - models and executable packages; - running instances and periods of dormancy; - forks, mergers, restorations and migrations; - recognized standing and representational authority; - current custodian, operator, fiduciary and guarantor; - applicable service level, jurisdiction and succession path. The registry does not own the subject and should not contain every private memory. It records the public or protected facts required to establish status and duty. Entries must be correctable, versioned, auditable and portable across successor authorities. ## Election Registry Boundary A [[wiki/Continuity Election Registry|Continuity Election Registry]] records a biological person's operative pre-transition directive, version, revocation and location. A continuity registry records the residual, model, executable package or continuant that actually exists, together with provenance, custody and standing. The first governs prospective authority; the second records an entity and duty relationship. Neither record substitutes for the other. **Recognition is not consent to custody.** A registry entry, identity credential or technically recoverable archive may establish discoverability or status without authorizing reconstruction, activation or permanent administration. ## Failure Modes Registry failure can create administrative non-existence even when state survives elsewhere. A subject may be intact but unable to prove which version is authorized, who owes service, or which custodian may restore it.
