## Definition
**Cortical Labs** is a biological-computing company associated with DishBrain and the **CL1** platform. Its systems couple cultured neural tissue to high-density microelectrode arrays, digital task environments, embedded computing, and life-support infrastructure.
## DishBrain
DishBrain placed human iPSC-derived or mouse cortical neurons in a closed-loop Pong environment. Structured electrical stimulation encoded game state, neural activity controlled the paddle, and feedback altered subsequent behavior. The result established a bounded experimental demonstration of adaptive task performance in living neural cultures.
## CL1 and Cortical Cloud
The CL1 packages lab-grown human neurons, a silicon electrode interface, fluid and gas management, temperature control, and embedded processing into a programmable system. Cortical Labs calls its software environment **biOS** and describes remote platform access as **Cortical Cloud**. This converts the laboratory preparation into a vertically integrated biological-computing platform.
## Evidentiary boundary
DishBrain's task adaptation, the CL1 product architecture, cloud-access plans, uptime targets, and claims of general biological intelligence are different evidentiary objects. The source atlas treats the platform as operational engineering while leaving scale, reproducibility, workload utility, tissue longevity, and ethical status as active constraints.

#### Epistemic boundary
Primary-source, peer-reviewed, company-claim, preprint, analytic, inherited-corpus, dynamic-metric, source-version-conflict, and unresolved states remain distinct. A current primary source supersedes a stale uncertainty label without erasing the correction history. No edge establishes ownership, funding, licensing, program lineage, technology transfer, operational integration, or institutional control unless its predicate and evidence explicitly do so.
