## Definition
**DICOM Real-Time Video (DICOM-RTV)** is the real-time communication architecture defined in DICOM PS3.22 for transmitting synchronized medical video, audio, and DICOM metadata as network flows. Despite the name, its architecture includes audio, metadata, and rendition binding as well as video.
## Neural-interface role
It provides a model for preserving the temporal relationship among stimuli, clinical video, audio, device context, and physiological response—relationships that can become invalid if streams drift by even milliseconds.
