# Data-Driven Advanced Analytics **Entity class:** Analytic capability family **Data-driven advanced analytics** applies statistical, computational, machine-learning, graph, and simulation methods to heterogeneous observations in order to identify structure, estimate hidden states, compare hypotheses, and forecast conditional outcomes. DTRA's 2019 RDT&E strategy names this capability in connection with counter-WMD, counter-improvised-threat, and counter-threat-network work. The term describes a capability family, not a single platform.
