## Definition
**DayOne** is a Singapore-headquartered global data-centre developer and operator serving cloud and artificial-intelligence customers. In the Neurotech corpus it is the infrastructure partner that designed and supports the environment for the Cortical Labs biological-computing rack at NUS Medicine.
## Provenance and Development
The partnership joins three distinct roles through a deployed research instrument: [[wiki/Cortical Labs|Cortical Labs]] supplies CL1 systems, [[wiki/NUS Medicine|NUS Medicine]] supplies neurobiology and cell-culture expertise, and DayOne supplies datacentre design and operations. NUS announced the collaboration in March 2026 and demonstrated the 20-unit rack in August 2026.
## Applications in Use
DayOne supports the infrastructure hosting the CL1 rack at the NUS Life Sciences Institute. NUS describes an initial validation environment intended to lead toward deployment in a DayOne commercial datacentre facility in Singapore.
## Forward Capability
DayOne places biological compute inside ordinary datacentre concerns: rack density, power, cooling, maintenance, workload access, and service continuity. The governing variable is **useful adaptive computation per unit of operating resource**, measured with the full life-support and culture-replacement cost included. That is the threshold at which wetware becomes a hosting substrate rather than a laboratory preparation.
## Open Questions
The commercial deployment timetable, capacity commitment, operating model, and service-level terms remain unpublished. A DayOne facility announcement or customer-facing service specification would settle the transition from NUS prototype to commercial hosting.

- **INF-0154 — Strongly indicated.** A hyperscale developer with roughly 2.1GW of bookings taking a position in biological compute means the substrate is being evaluated against datacenter power economics. That comparison — joules per useful operation — is the only metric under which wetware wins, and it is now being measured by people who buy power.
