# Derived Artifact A derived artifact is an output produced from a canonical source by declared rules: a quote page, poster, feed item, index, cache, static page, or database projection. Derived artifacts should preserve provenance and be safe to rebuild. Human curation belongs outside generator-owned regions or in separately identified fields so regeneration does not erase authorship.
