# Ephemeralization
**Domain:** Design Science / Resource Systems
**Doc Type:** Concept Node
**Maturity:** Evolving
**Related:** Buckminster Fuller, Resource Optimization, Substrate Transition, Infrastructure as Power
---
## Definition
**Ephemeralization** is Buckminster Fuller's term for the tendency to accomplish more performance with less material, energy, time or weight.
## Corpus Context
The principle connects Design Science to computation and dematerialized infrastructure. In Beyond the Sea, it helps explain the movement from vehicle and furniture to signal, replica and informational presence. Efficiency alone does not settle who controls the lighter system.
## Key Insight
**This node connects its historical or conceptual subject to the corpus without treating analogy as proof of direct influence.**
