# Eschatological Neutrality **Domain:** Continuity / Religious Liberty / Civil Administration **Doc Type:** Canonical Constitutional Principle **Maturity:** Proposed ## Definition **Eschatological Neutrality** is the rule that continuity administration may honor a person's lawful civil instructions without deciding whether any religious, materialist or transhumanist account of death and continuation is metaphysically true. ## Civil-Theological Boundary A person may direct civil acts concerning records, models, remains, property, custody, reconstruction or activation. Those acts can be honored in a way that respects religious identity. But baptism is not thereby converted into a civil continuity contract; a funeral rite is not automatic consent to simulation; religious membership is not authorization for custody; and a materialist belief is not automatic permission to delete evidence. An explicit civil directive controls civil administration within its lawful scope without changing the theological meaning of a sacrament, doctrine or community practice. Where no directive exists, [[wiki/Continuity Default Rule|Continuity Default Rule]] and due process govern rather than an administrator's interpretation of belief. ## Pluralism Neutrality requires an intelligible option set: refusal, archive-only treatment, delayed adjudication, reconstruction without activation, active continuation, embodiment and generative continuation must be expressible without the state ranking their metaphysical premises. Eschatological neutrality supplies the necessary correction: a person can put civil preferences on the record without a provider or state claiming to implement, validate or replace the person's theology.
