# Fidelity **Domain:** Reconstruction / Representation / Continuity **Function:** Degree to which a model or reconstruction preserves specified properties of a source. Fidelity is never a single universal score. A reconstruction may preserve vocabulary while losing values, reproduce decisions while lacking memory, or imitate autobiographical recall without sharing the original subject's consciousness. Any claim of fidelity must therefore name the properties being compared, the evidence used, the permitted error, and the context in which the comparison matters. In Westworld, “fidelity” names the repeated attempt to recreate [[wiki/James Delos|James Delos]]. The experiments show why behavioral resemblance cannot settle identity.
