# Generosity **Domain:** Ethics / Social behavior / Human development **Doc Type:** Canonical concept node **Maturity:** Developed ## Definition Generosity is the voluntary sharing of resources, attention, access, credit, knowledge, or opportunity in ways that enlarge another person's capacity to participate. ## Mechanism and Significance Generosity can convert a private advantage into a network effect. A recommendation, introduction, attribution, or invitation gives another person access while strengthening norms of reciprocity and trust across the group. ## Evidence Boundary Generosity does not guarantee repayment, and strategic reciprocity is not identical to selfless motive. The observable proposition is that sharing access can multiply social benefit even when the contributor's inner motive remains mixed. ## Relationships Cooperation · Social Capital · Human Animality · Opportunity ## Simple Reminders, Quotations, and Thoughts > “Get an opportunity, share an opportunity. When a door opens, bringing a friend through it multiplies the benefit.
