**Genomics** studies genomes as complete or large-scale systems: their sequence, organization, variation, function, evolution and interaction with environments.

Genomics depends on sequencing but is not reducible to it. Assembly, annotation, comparison, population sampling and statistical inference convert molecular records into biological knowledge.
