## Definition
**Georg Heinrich Rudolf Johann von Reisswitz** (1794–1827) was a Prussian artillery officer who transformed his father's wargame apparatus into the 1824 rules commonly identified with modern Kriegsspiel. His system modeled troops moving over topographical maps under an umpire's adjudication.
## Significance
Reisswitz matters because his game was built for officers rather than merely borrowed as entertainment. It made uncertainty, terrain, command delay, and adjudicated consequence into a repeatable learning environment and became an ancestor of professional military simulation.
