# Grievance Activation Grievance activation is the deliberate or emergent intensification of a perceived injury so that it becomes more central to identity, interpretation, or action. Messages may reactivate real harm, combine separate complaints, supply an enemy, or transform uncertainty into moral certainty. The presence of grievance is not evidence of manipulation; many grievances are legitimate and require redress. Analysis concerns how a grievance is framed, repeated, fused with identity, and directed toward constructive remedy or destructive permission.
