# Hidden Physical System
## Definition
A physical system has important conditions or processes that cannot be observed directly. Measurements and models support reconstruction of those conditions.
## Regional role
Incomplete observations become useful through models of what produced them. Inverse methods reconstruct latent conditions; uncertainty qualifies the estimate; predictions inform choices; interventions change the system; and renewed observations test the result. The Austin Executable Loop names that recurring architecture across applications whose physical dynamics and operating authorities remain distinct.
