# Homeland Security Presidential Directive 6 **Short name:** HSPD-6 **Full title:** Integration and Use of Screening Information **Entity class:** Presidential national-security directive ## Definition **Homeland Security Presidential Directive 6 (HSPD-6)**, issued September 16, 2003, established federal policy to develop, integrate, maintain, and lawfully use thorough, accurate, and current information about people known or appropriately suspected to be involved in terrorism. It directed use of that information across federal, state, local, territorial, tribal, foreign-government, and private-sector screening, and across diplomatic, military, intelligence, law-enforcement, immigration, visa, and protective processes.
