It is metabolically expensive, heat-producing and dependent on continuing gradients. - The **cold archive** preserves weights, code, memory, identity specifications or other reactivation material while performing little or no interpretation. ## Continuity Context No durable archive is automatically a living subject, and no active interpreter is durable merely because it is computational. Continuity across long intervals may require repeated movement between active and dormant phases, with provenance and restoration testing at every transition. The architecture prevents a common category error: describing stored information as conscious existence.
