# Hotel Van Zandt ## Definition The **Hotel Van Zandt** is a Kimpton hotel at 605 Davis Street in the Rainey Street Historic District of [[wiki/Austin, Texas|Austin, Texas]]. Completed in 2015 as Kimpton's first Austin property, it has 319 rooms, including 41 suites, and about 12,000 square feet of event space. ## History The hotel honors two members of one family: Isaac Van Zandt, a former Republic of Texas ambassador to the United States, and his third great-grandson, the singer-songwriter Townes Van Zandt. Townes's son JT contributed family-inspired artwork on the second floor. Its fourth-floor restaurant, Geraldine's, doubles as a music venue with live bands booked daily, in keeping with the Rainey Street music scene around it. ## Bryant McGill at the Hotel Van Zandt In October 2025 a friend from Brooklyn came to Austin to visit Bryant at the Hotel Van Zandt.
