# Human Future with Advanced AI
**Entity class:** Futures framework
**Domain:** Artificial intelligence / human flourishing
**Maturity:** Developed
## Definition
A **human future with advanced AI** is an outcome in which machine capability expands while people retain meaningful access to embodied life, relationships, purpose, agency, family, health, and the choice to remain recognizably human.
## Positive criteria
The framework evaluates AI progress by human consequences rather than capability alone. Positive criteria include long healthy lives, preserved physical reality, humane interfaces, cognitive and economic agency, meaningful work or purpose, and the availability of multiple life paths rather than compulsory migration into one technological form.
## Relationship to neighboring futures
The framework can coexist with Mind Uploading, Posthumanism, virtual worlds, augmentation, and machine succession, but it rejects the assumption that a technologically advanced future must eliminate ordinary human life. Team Human supplies the normative commitment; Humanist AI and Human Control of AI supply adjacent design routes.

## Simple Reminders, Quotations, and Thoughts
> "One illustration of a good outcome with advanced AI is that we, our friends, and our loved ones get to live in the real world almost all the time. We can move through physical reality with people we care about, possess a sense of purpose, and pursue undertakings of genuine personal meaning. We can interact with AI through interfaces that are more human than craning our necks over mobile screens or sitting at computers all day."

> "Some people will choose the metaverse or pursue mind uploading, so there may be many choices. But one great outcome from the AI transition would be for people to have the option to live long and healthy lives, have children, and live in the way that human beings are most deeply human."

> "When people are asked how long they expect to live, they usually answer with a number somewhere between seventy and one hundred ten. We have discussed how events could go badly in the next few years, but if we make it through, children born today could live very long and healthy lives. The number is not going to be 120; it is going to be higher than that."

> "Robert Sapolsky says that the best way to deal with uncertainty is usually to orient yourself emotionally toward the best-case outcome while keeping some small part of yourself ready for the worst. When I think about the future, I genuinely feel hope. We may be alive in one of the most exciting times in human history, and there are many ways this could go extraordinarily well. It provides purpose to know that the outcome is contingent on human actions today. I genuinely hope that a child born today will have one of the best lives ever lived."
