# Human Intelligence **Domain:** Intelligence / Source Operations **Doc Type:** Technical Concept Node **Maturity:** Developed ## Definition **Human intelligence, or HUMINT, is information acquired through human sources, interpersonal access, debriefing, recruitment, liaison, elicitation, or observation.** Its distinctive strength is access to intentions, deliberations, relationships, and context that technical collection may not reveal. ## Operational Character HUMINT depends on trust, validation, source protection, compartmentation, and patient cultivation.
