# IBCS Integrated Collaborative Environment **Entity class:** Air-and-missile-defense mission-command hardware **Aliases:** Integrated Collaborative Environment; ICE ## Definition The **Integrated Collaborative Environment (ICE)** is one of the principal hardware elements of the U.S. Army’s **Integrated Battle Command System**. It is a modular shelter/workspace that extends network and communication connections for mission-command planning and operations. It is distinct from the Engagement Operations Center and Integrated Fire Control Network Relay. ## Consolidated supporting records ### Integrated Battle Command System **Entity class:** Integrated air-and-missile-defense mission-command system The U.S. Army’s **Integrated Battle Command System** connects sensors, command elements, networks, and effectors into a shared air-and-missile-defense architecture. Army descriptions emphasize a common integrated air picture and an “any sensor, best weapon” operating concept; those goals depend on network performance, interface integration, cybersecurity, and operational testing. **Sources:** [U.S. Army — First complete IBCS delivery](https://www.army.mil/article/278092/us_army_receives_first_complete_ibcs_delivery); [U.S. Army — IBCS and integrated fires](https://www.army.mil/article/290087/ibcs_and_the_future_of_offensive_and_defensive_integrated_fires) ## Relationships - **system:** **IBCS**. - **hardware peers:** Engagement Operations Center and Integrated Fire Control Network Relay. - **industrial producer:** Northrop Grumman. - **operational concept:** fused sensor/shooter data and integrated air and missile defense. - **Fort Bliss route:** 32d AAMDC is a theater integration node; this does not prove a particular hardware inventory. - **disambiguation route:** ICE disambiguation. ## Sources / Provenance - [U.S. Army — First complete IBCS delivery](https://www.army.mil/article/278092/us_army_receives_first_complete_ibcs_delivery) - [GAO-25-107491 — Army modernization](https://www.gao.gov/assets/gao-25-107491.pdf)
