# Identity Theft Resource Center The **Identity Theft Resource Center** (ITRC) is a United States nonprofit organization that assists victims of identity crime and tracks publicly reported data compromises. Its annual and quarterly reports count breach events, attack vectors, affected organizations, and estimated victims. Victim totals are not equivalent to a count of uniquely compromised people or devices. A person affected by multiple reported compromises may appear more than once, and public notices frequently omit details about the attack vector. The figures nevertheless document the scale and distribution of identity exposure across the United States. ## References - [ITRC 2023 Annual Data Breach Report](https://www.idtheftcenter.org/publication/2023-data-breach-report/) - [Q3 2023 Data Breach Report](https://www.idtheftcenter.org/post/q3-2023-data-breach-report-itrc-reports-data-compromise-record-with-three-months-left-in-year/) ## Related Identity Theft, Credential Compromise, Cybersecurity, Information Estate
