# Imperial Resettlement Network **Domain:** Empire / Migration / Logistics **Doc Type:** Concept Node **Maturity:** Developed ## Definition **An imperial resettlement network is the administrative, maritime, military, land-grant, provisioning, and patronage apparatus through which an empire redistributes displaced populations among its remaining jurisdictions.** It converts forced movement into a new geography of settlement and institutional capacity. ## War With Empire Context After the American Revolution, Loyalists entered ports and territories already connected by British shipping, law, offices, military commands, churches, and commercial relationships. The network did not guarantee prosperity or coordinated political purpose; many displaced people experienced severe loss and abandonment. It did, however, give people and their skills identifiable destinations inside a larger imperial system. The resulting map matters because later legal and financial networks often reused the same Atlantic geography.
