# Influence Engineering
Influence engineering is the disciplined design, testing, deployment, and refinement of messages and distribution systems to produce observable effects in an information environment. It combines semantic work with systems architecture: the content, channel, audience model, measurement method, and feedback loop are treated as one operating system.
Unlike influence architecture, which describes the structure of the environment, influence engineering emphasizes intervention and iteration. A responsible practice defines objectives and constraints before optimizing response, preserves provenance, distinguishes measurement from meaning, and monitors unintended effects.
