## Definition
The **USC Institute for Creative Technologies (ICT)** is a University Affiliated Research Center founded in 1999. It combines simulation, artificial intelligence, interactive storytelling, learning science, and entertainment-industry methods for U.S. Army and other Department of Defense applications.
## Significance
ICT is unusually direct evidence for the bidirectional military-entertainment membrane: the Army deliberately joined academic research with Hollywood and game expertise to build immersive training, while resulting techniques and personnel circulated beyond defense.
