## Definition
**LARP structure** is the organization of live-action role play through embodied roles, a shared fictional frame, rules or norms, physical locations, facilitators, props, and consequences negotiated during play. Unlike a conventional board game, the player performs the character through speech and action in a social environment.
## Analytic use
The useful variables are not costumes but role allocation: who knows the frame, who can change it, who is performing, who believes, and who is merely watching. Large LARPs distribute authority among designers, game masters, non-player characters, factions, and participants. That makes the form valuable for reading movements in which sincerity, irony, improvisation, and strategic performance coexist.
## Boundary
Calling a movement “a LARP” can obscure real belief and harm. Use the comparison to identify mechanics, not to dismiss participants or assert a hidden puppet master.
