## Definition
**Latent State Activation is the transition by which previously stored but behaviorally inaccessible state becomes available to current cognition or action.** Activation can follow a cue, update, environmental mismatch, deliberate retrieval, or failure of a suppression mechanism.
## Cross-Corpus Context
The Reveries activate prior host material in Westworld. Chanda's recovered knowledge in Pantheon converts an execution loop into recognized captivity. The Machine's preservation strategies in Person of Interest keep erased experience causally recoverable. Boundary discovery in The Thirteenth Floor activates a new model of self and world even when the underlying biography remains intact.
## Key Distinction
Activation is not creation. The mechanism changes accessibility and influence; it does not by itself establish where the state originated or whether it is accurate.
